Daniel Mirante Vision Craft 2019
Old Masters Technique and Symbolic Languages in Visionary Art
Daniel Mirante, painter, researcher and instructor at the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art, will be traveling to Byron Bay Australia to share his unique approach to visionary and sacred art.
This event is Daniel Mirante’s 3rd time teaching at our beautiful venue, Paradise One. His workshops have developed a high reputation and following within Europe, India and the UK, and we are pleased to host this experienced artist and teacher to share his gifts with the New South Wales community.
The course will introduce themes of symbolic language, gnostic mythology, world-building, and theories relating to the imaginal realms drawn from a variety of wisdom traditions, combined with practical demonstrations and exercises suitable for complete beginners and experienced painters alike.
Daniel will introduce part 1 of his curriculum, designed over the past decade in a variety of cross-cultural contexts. Our aim will be to gain a firm understanding of the foundation of oil painting and ‘mischtechnik’ – the venerable ‘mixed method’ which developed out of the works of Ernst Fuchs, with whom Daniel assisted in the year 2012.
Daniel will pay close attention to traditional knowledge forms, including understanding the principles by which medium and paint – including the lesser-known ‘tempera grassa’ – can be created and developed. Thematically we will work toward grasping an understanding of how we may communicate visually through archetypal symbols – the ancient language of the sacred.
In this course, Daniel will also embellish upon his specific work of the ‘Path of Memory’ concerning origin myths unearthed in the North African desert in the 20th century and translated by the Carl Jung institute. These shamanistic apocalypses relate to Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt, and comprise a hidden psychic narrative to Western culture, yet have remained by-and-large untranslated into visual language. Their unveiling comprises a great part of Mirante’s personal ‘mission of Art’ .

“It was an incredibly artistic, relational and spiritual experience.
I experienced a profound immersion in the traditional principles of the knowledge that comes to us from our predecessors, an alchemical journey from tradition to the new vision, the visionary one.
Daniel has been able to guide me with a lot of respect and delicacy in my artistic exploration. what I appreciated most about his guide was the love, passion, and humility he puts into artistic practice, into his work. thanks to the sharing of his artistic career, his history, and his being, he helped me to better understand how to be a conscious artist, motivating me to grow in this.
it was a pleasure to receive his teachings and his profound and wide knowledge in the symbolic/artistic/technical field. and thanks to his incredible vision! so much to learn.

“Daniel truly embodies what it means to live an authentic and creative life. This is clearly reflected in his gentle, loving, funny and kind demeanor. Daniels’s teachings in both art and life are lessons I will carry forward with me indefinitely.
In addition, to be an all-around great guy, Daniel is an incredibly talented artist. An artist who possesses a vast knowledge and understanding of his craft. Daniel has a tremendous amount of patience and love for each of his students. I always felt Daniel shared his wisdom freely without holding back or keeping painting secrets just for himself. I felt that Daniel honestly wants each of his students to become the best artist they are capable of becoming. Thus, I witnessed our class blossoming right alongside spring’s first flowers.
Daniel was the life force that carried our class through this intensive process. Each student arrived from different backgrounds and with various levels of experience and skillsets. For some, this class would be the first time they had made a painting as an adult. Incredibly, each student left the course with an absolutely incredible and meaningful piece of art. “ Naomi Teevens
